Let’s start with the simple & classic black & white hexagon tile. A truly timeless tile staple- it pairs well with nearly all interior styles and paint colours. If you remember the introduction of our #teamfavourites series way back when in November, you may remember my choice was our Black and White Hexagon Matte Backsplash. I chose it because it’s an effortlessly-chic tile that pairs very well with subway tile. I still stand by that decision! @danielmichelledesign and @kb_studio225 used this vintage-looking tile in bathrooms with white subway tile. As they should!!
If simplicity’s your thing and you’re not loving the black & white tile, try all white! @eyeforpretty and @redlilyrenos opted for matching white grout and wooden shelving for a minimal, earthy vibe. Of course plants are the perfect addition to these calming spaces! Is this a look you’d try in your kitchen? If you like white penny tile but aren’t quite satisfied with this result, try a darker grout! Don’t be afraid to experiment.
To the dark side! @foxnahem used a stainless steel and Corian combo in a bathroom design- creating a masculine, futuristic environment set for some pretty rad selfies. @alixhelpsinteriors tried Carrara marble hexagon tiles in a bathroom and I am very much a fan! Marble naturally exudes the feeling of wealth and luxury, but the small hexagon shapes add a little bit of fun. (Interior design by @alixhelpsinteriors, photography by @suestubbs). For a similar look with slightly larger tiles, check out our Pietra Carrara Matte Hexagon Tile or our Statuario Celano Hexagon Recycled Glass Tile! @houseofjadeinteriors used a dark & brooding black penny tile on half of a bathroom wall, adding contrast to a mostly-white space. It looks lovely with the dark wood vanity and gold accents, don’t you think? Take a peek at our Black 2" Hexagon Matte Tile if this is a look you can get into.
Let’s have some fun! Hexagon tiles are great because you can personalize the arrangement to your liking. Just remove the tiles from their mesh backing, and start planning! @jennasuedesign & @mollyrundlerealty freshened up their spaces with creative designs. Jenna’s laundry room features a small border at the entrance, and the word “fresh” in front of her washer & dryer- making just about everyone who sees it instantly jealous, I’m sure. Molly used a similar design and made it just a little simpler. You have to admire the time it must’ve taken to arrange such a sweet design! @burnishedhaus lets their floor welcome their guests with a fun “hey” design right where they walk in. If the flooring isn’t cool enough for you, check out that awesome green shiplap wall!
When you’re browsing paint colours, do you find yourself attracted to the brightest colours first? Me too! When I came across these three bathroom designs, I knew I had to include them in this inspo blog. @huitlaguna’s gorgeous green bathroom is perfect for St. Paddy’s day, along with every other day of the year! (Design by @huitlaguna, photography by @chadmellon). @emilymeszkatinteriors’ and @videsigns’ striped showers give nautical, summer vibes that work so well in a bathroom. Colourful tiles are already super fun on their own, but the striped element elevates the design even more!
Last but certainly not least, simple designs with black and white tile inspired by early 20th-century interior style. @farmhousevernacular used mostly white round penny tiles to match the rest of the bathroom, and a handful of black tiles for a subtle pop of chic. @sarahlarosedesign opted for a grey and white combo with a similar star-shaped pattern and a grey border. Both designs could’ve fooled me into thinking that they belonged in historic homes. Simply gorgeous!
Penny tile - it’s versatile, fun to install, and easy to admire. Which one of these awesome designs spoke to you? Let me know in the comments! And if you’ve experimented with penny tile in your own space, share your experience! It might just help someone thinking about taking on the challenge.
