An ideal song to listen to while you’re reading this is “Paint it Black” by the Stones - because that’s the takeaway from this blog. If you have something you think would look good painted black, DO IT! Black can make a space feel cozier and more intimate, or bold and demanding of your attention. Our Obsidian can make that happen for you, just look at the magic Katie at @katiedavis_spruce created in her bedroom!

Accent Walls
Simple, but totally transforms your space. Accent walls inspire an opportunity to indulge yourself with that bold wall colour you’ve always wanted to try. A black accent wall offers one heck of a stage for gallery walls, too!

Ceilings
Similar to accent walls, painting just your ceiling black may satisfy your urge to try Obsidian. It has the effect of making your ceiling feel taller and wider, believe it or not! A black ceiling with white walls really makes it pop.
Stencils
You’ve got options here! Buy a stencil online or DIY it - there’s oodles of designs you can choose from. Stencil an accent wall, a whole bedroom, a table, your floor! A black design will pop on almost any base colour.
Trim
This one’s not as common but it’s sure to stop traffic: black trim! It’s incredibly bold but the result is SO worth it. Is this a look you’d try?
Staircases
Paint ‘em all black or just the railings and the risers. Leave the treads how they were originally built, or thrift a long, patterned carpet to cover them! Give yourself something you enjoy looking at when you make the journey from floor one to two.
Bookcases
Lastly, flip an old bookcase! Add some black paint and maybe a few small spotlights to show off the treasures you have on display.
Let me know if any of these ideas sparked your interest for a new home project! Obsidian can be the colour that totally transforms your space! As always, leave a note in the comments, I’d love to hear your thoughts.
