Sleek Lines
That light fixture though! Interior by Cho’s design incorporates sleek lines through a modern chandelier, curved standing light, unique side tables, and framed prints. With statement pieces such as these, there’s no need for much else. Simplicity is key!
Natural Elements
This is a big part of Scandinavian and minimalist design, so naturally it’s included in Japandi spaces. This space designed by @marieastrid_pelsser (photo by @carolinedethier) is a perfect example: wood-paneled walls, a wooden chair and table, and a vase with flowers and grass. The floor-to-ceiling windows definitely help, too!
Neutral Colour Palette
The beauty of Japandi design is that you can stick to a select group of colours to make shopping easy. Choose a warm toned colour as your base (paint colours, bedding, flooring) and try not to stray too far to achieve the look. Use this bedroom by @polkenstudio for reference - a soft beige on the walls, bedding, and rug set the tone for the room. The accent pillows, curtains, and side table are darker shades of the base colour. Doesn’t it look like a promising nap spot?
Keep It Simple
Perhaps the hardest aspect of Japandi design - minimalism. If you have little ones running amuck in your home, this may not be achievable. Or if minimalism just isn’t your jam - that’s okay too! Choose to incorporate pieces of this design style instead, like this incredible light fixture in EST Living’s design!
Items To Look For
Circular mirrors, neutral subway tile, and wooden bed frames are big yes’s in terms of Japandi spaces. Luckily, we can help with the tile! Try Urbano Pure or Renzo Dove 3”x12” to achieve a look similar to this photo from Pinterest.
If you’d like something a little more exciting, try square! Stick to an earth-toned palette with Renzo Jade 5”x5” or try our cool blue Renzo Sky 5”x5”. Both shades are ideal for a neutral bathroom!
To up your Japandi bathroom game, try and incorporate wooden slats into your space. It will completely change the feel of your bathroom, while also making it harder to leave after your me-time bath is over… (Photo from Pinterest.)
